Switch Recovery

Enter RONMON Mode.

Rename current running-config and reload to ignore.

Once accessed rename current running-config back to config.text then update password.

Router Recovery

Upon rebooting router, send break sequence at initializing phase to enter RONMON mode (Ctrl+C).

Change confreg value to 0x2142 to ignore the startup-config after reload.

Save the startup-config to the running-config then replace password.

Change the config-register value to 0x2102 to reload normally and then save running-config to startup-config.

Reload and use the new password to access device.
